Taxi Driver Data was started in Nottinghamshire and
provided at the original request of the Rushcliffe Borough Council licensing
department. During its development the Nottinghamshire Police traffic enforcement unit have expressed interest in having access to the system in order to add information themselves where this may be appropriate and obviously to read data recorded by contributing councils. The standards and protocols concerning this access and what they will be allowed to do and see is yet to be established and initially the Police will not have access at all until these have been agreed. It is the developers belief that every Police service in the UK would wish to have access to this facility once it becomes more widely available. In the event that a council did not wish the Police to have access to their data even when the Police have access to the system generally there is a simple method of hiding that councils data from them specifically already built into the system. This would not preclude access to it from other councils. |
